Shortfall and agency purchasing come from CMS Payroll-Based Journal filings (2026Q1), which nursing homes file quarterly — they describe the most recent quarter reported, not today. Job postings are a separate source, read every week. Hospitals and assisted living are counted in the facility total; the two nursing-home measures are not claimed for them, because the federal filing that produces them exists for nursing homes only.
